Cervix Dilation
Cervix dilation is performed with a D&E, and is not associated with lichen sclerosis, or a routine pap smear.
During the procedure the physitian enlarges the vagina and scrapes the inside of the uterus to remove tissue for analysis. "D&C" is conducted if a Pap smear test doesn't clearly indicate whether abnormalities are caused by problem in the vagina or in the endometrium.

Cervix Dilation -
Lichen Sclerosis, Pap Smear
In general it is a very safe procedure and has been performed for many years. After it complications are possible: bleeding or (in rare cases) perforation of the uterus. The procedure can be performed in the office with or without anesthesia. Cervix dilation is performed with a D&E, and is not associated with lichen sclerosis, or a routine pap smear.
