Cervix Speculum
A cervix speculum is used when performing a pap to detect HPV or an ASCUS reading.
They are sized for ease of insertion into the vaginal orifice and maneuvered to permit view of the cervix while avoiding the more sensitive anterior wall and urethra. These tong-like instruments are used by medical practioners to examine the cervical tissue and vaginal wall.

Cervix Speculum -
HPV, ASCUS
Abnormalities such as retroversion, prolapsed uterus, ectropion, cancer, polyps, pus, or bleeding, inflammation, thickening, edematous, granularity, growths, and lacerations (traumas) may be observed. During an inspection, color (normally smooth pink epithelium), position, and nature of discharge are noted during this type of examination. A cervix speculum is used when performing a pap to detect HPV or an ASCUS reading.
