Friable Cervix
A friable cervix may occur if vaginosis or lichen sclerosus is also present.
Screening for infection is often necessary in women who complain of bleeding. Trichomonas, bacterial vaginosis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, can cause the cervix to become very friable (soft,eroded) and bleed. Essentially means cervical tissue is very prone to bleeding and is symptomatic of a variety of cervical disorders such as PID.
A friable cervix may occur if vaginosis or lichen sclerosus is also present.

Vaginosis, Lichen Sclerosus
General management of this condition includes pressure with swab, silver nitrate stick (chemical destruction of the lesion), or monsel's solution (saline solution causing constriction of tissues and vessels). In addition to a routine pap smear, screening for infection is often necessary in women who complain of bleeding. A friable cervix may occur if vaginosis or lichen sclerosus is also present.
