Colposcopy Definition
During a colposcopy, definition of afflicted tissue associated with vaginal discharge or ASCUS is clearer.
A solution of acetic acid is wiped on the cervix for dysplastic cells to become white and visible. If the abnormality is found LLETZ or LEEP is prescribed for treatment. Usually LLETZ takes place at the end of the examination during the same visit.

After a woman had an abnormal Pap smear it is necessary to examine the cervix with a special microscope, called colposcope. During the procedure the woman sits on the special couch and the doctor puts a speculum into the vagina to visualize it. During a colposcopy, definition of afflicted tissue associated with vaginal discharge or ASCUS is clearer.
