After Colposcopy
A repeated Pap smear should be performed after colposcopy to make sure that cervical dysplasia, venereal wart or other problem is gone.
If it doesn’t, she should contact her doctor. The spotting should quit within the first 48 hours following the exam. For this she may need to wear a pad for the rest of the day. Following this exam and biopsy, a woman may experience some spotting or slight bleeding.

After Colposcopy -
Cervical Dysplasia, Venereal Wart
Though uncommon, if the patient experiences bleeding longer than 48 hours or has a thick, smelly discharge, which could be an infection, she should call her doctor. She should refrain from intercourse, douching, or using tampons for at least 48 hours following the visit to allow the biopsy cuts to heal. A repeated Pap smear should be performed after colposcopy to make sure that cervical dysplasia, venereal wart or other problem is gone.
