Abnormal Cell Growth

Abnormal cell growth on the cervical tissue is called cervical dysplasia. Even mild dysplasia can progress to more significant disease, if left untreated. Moderate and severe dysplasia are treated when they are discovered, because of their higher rates of turning into invasive cancer. The only way to detect this condition is regular screening. Cervical dysplasia is a premalignant or precancerous change to the cells of the cervix. There are three types of this condition: mild, moderate, and severe. Mild dysplasia is the most common, and probably is not a true premalignant disease; it often heals by itself, especially in young women. Abnormal cell growth on the cervical tissue is called cervical dysplasia.
