Cervical Cancer Conization
When diagnosing the threat of cervical cancer, conization biopsies along with a colposcopy will often determine the level of cervical dysplasia.
During pregnancy the cervix may be incompetent and a stitch is necessary to keep it closed. If a patient doesn’t want to have children in the future and in severe cases, a hysterectomy is performed, which is a removal of the cervix and uterus.

This operation means removing a cone-shaped piece of tissue. It can be performed either under local or general anesthetic and may require an overnight stay in hospital. A small risk of weakening the cervix and miscarriage is possible. When diagnosing the threat of cervical cancer, conization biopsies along with a colposcopy will often determine the level of cervical dysplasia.
