Leep Cone Biopsy
During leep, cone biopsy (funnel shaped sample) of affected tissue may be taken to confirm the cause of infection such as genital herpes or hpv genital wart, as also done for a persistent facial wart.
This process has around a 75-80% success rate. It involves using a wire loop, that has a painless electric current flowing through it, to remove areas of abnormal cells. The risks associated with it include possible cervical stenosis, relentless bleeding, cervical incompetence, or infection of the cervix.

When a Pap smear is abnormal, a doctor often recommends a colposcopy, with a tissue sample removed. When these two tests show moderate or severe cervical dysplasia is present, then many times a loop electrosurgical excision procedure is suggested as a treatment.
